Natya Yoga:
The Yoga of Dance
Journey Through Indian Classical Dance
Module 1: Four Week Workshop
July 19, 26 & August 2, 9
11:15 am-1:15 pm
Natya Yoga is the yoga of dance—a sacred, expressive form rooted in India’s classical dance tradition, Bharatanatyam, which dates back over 2,000 years. Combining posture, rhythm, breath, storytelling, and devotion, this practice is both a physical and meditative art that invites practitioners to move with purpose and presence.
What is Natya Yoga?
This beginner-friendly workshop will include:
Introduction to Bharatanatyam and its spiritual roots
Warm-ups and rhythmic movement (Talas)
Sacred gestures (Mudras) and postures (Karanas)
Basic dance steps (Adavus)
Choreography based on Hindu deities and mantras
Exploration of Indian epics, classical songs, and Sanskrit poetry
Cultural exchange through storytelling and performance
We’ll culminate with a special sharing session, where participants will perform two short pieces inspired by the teachings, open to the community to observe.
Whether you're a dancer, yogi, or seeker of cultural connection, this is a unique opportunity to experience the transformative power of sacred dance.
Limited spaces available – join us for this rare and beautiful journey into the heart of Asia through the universal language of movement.
