Day 2: Hungry? Thirsty? Something else?

Day 2: Hungry? Thirsty? Something Else?

How did the first day go?

It can be a challenge to adjust to not snacking, and only eating when our bodies are hungry. Sometimes in that process, we have to look a little deeper. We may feel that we're hungry, when really we are thirsty. We may find ourselves eating in the confusion of the signals of the body.

Today for the food pickup participants, we included CCF tea: cumin, coriander, and fennel. There are many benefits to drinking this tea throughout the cleanse, but one is to balance the blood sugar levels. When we are not consuming sugar, our blood sugar can drop or at least signal symptomology that feels as though our blood sugar is dropping. As a result, we want to eat. Drinking this tea, helps balance that out, especially over time. Here are some ways that these spices contribute to balancing blood sugar:

Cumin: Cumin seeds have been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, which allows the body to use glucose more effectively. Cumin also helps reduce inflammation, which is often linked to blood sugar imbalances.

Coriander: Coriander seeds have hypoglycemic properties, meaning they help lower blood sugar levels. They can stimulate insulin production and enhance the process of uptake of glucose into the cells.

Fennel: Fennel seeds too, have mild blood sugar- lowering effects. They support digestion, improve metabolism, and reduce bloating, which are important for maintaining overall balance in the body.

The tea that was included in the food pick up is very potent! Add as much water as you would like to bring it to a taste that works for you. It is intended to be strong so that you can dilute it and have enough to sip on for the entire day.

If you are experiencing discomfort that is signaling for more food for your body, try adding avocado to your meals, or topping your meals with roasted seeds. You can also add hemp seeds. If you need a little more protein, you can add an egg, or meat, if it is cooked in broth or stew on a meal or two throughout the cleanse.
