Day 4- Main Cleanse
Sip sip sip! On that warm beverage. If you’re starting to feel hungry, look at a couple of things. Are you hungry because you need food, or are you hungry because you’re not used to the feeling of your body digesting and utilizing the food you put into it. Notice if you have the desire to eat more because of something emotional? Cleansing can make you feel a bit alone…loneliness, because everyone else is doing something different. Well, remember there are plenty of us right here with you through this process. Try to keep snacking to a minimum so the food has a chance to be fully digested, but also support your body if it needs more food! You can add egg whites, flax, seeds, or a piece of fruit here and there. Seaweed is also a great addition. Add sweet potato into your kitchari. That can give some great energy! Try to keep fruit to a minimum and even better, warm it and spice it! Please avoid cold foods! Your body needs to feel safe to do a thorough job releasing.
Speaking of safe, know that physical cleansing is also emotional cleansing. When ama (toxicity and buildup) is created and lodged into the body, whatever emotions you were feeling at that time, are also lodged in there. When you cleanse and release what has been caught up within you for some time, you will have not only a physical removal, but an emotional as well. You may find yourself remembering things that you haven’t though of for quite some time, or getting roped into an old story that you thought was behind you. If you find yourself irritated or sad, this is completely normal. Journaling can be a great exercise in times like these. Or write a letter to someone, whether you choose to send it to them or not.
One more note on food, you might be wondering if you can eat one condiment or another. You’ve probably noticed that you have a desire for strong flavors. Try to resume a relationship with hunger rather than of desire. Consuming very simple flavors this week will allow the taste buds to recalibrate. This will allow you to attune to what is truly feeding the body, mind, and soul, and will allow you to feel satisfied by simple ad natural foods.
As if there aren’t enough challenges yet, here’s a media challenge. Try to stay off your screens before 8 am and after 8 pm. Get plenty of rest to encourage deep cleaning of that body!
